I said the same thing a month or two ago. It wasn’t meant as a complaint, I think this thread was very useful when it began. However, nowadays cameras seem to be more the norm for most mid size carriers and up (100 trucks plus)
Instead of scrolling thru 43 pages, it might be useful to start another thread of companies without. It was just a thought, I figured I’d throw it out there and see if anyone else agreed?
And just for the record, I’m all for forward facing cameras. My issue is with inside facing cameras, especially in sleepers.Texas_hwy_287 and mathematrucker Thank this. -
My carrier let the cat out of the bag by sending a msg to the fleet . Reading the msg suggested they monitor their drivers . They got a huge backlash for it that resulted in another fleet msg defending their actions. Im glad im an OO with my own insurance . Im not required to put their camera in my truck . But if i run their plate and ins they would require it im sure

A few trucks have them. Not mine......yet. continuing on with one foot out the door.

The larger a carrier is the less driver backlash means to them. I hope they lose a whole bunch of their company drivers when the cameras get put in.

I worked for a company that had two cameras on each mirror facing front and back two on windshield facing out and one on driver from waste up if you looked down on your seat to pick up your sandwich you got in trouble for taking your eyes off the road didn't mind cameras checking road but it took some getting used to the one looking at you I hated it plus if you were going over speed limit they would email your dispatcher even if you didn't get a ticket plus they can listen to you also

I've heard from a bunch of guys the camera on them isn't all that bad, but the mic on them is what they REALLY HATED the most! Said they couldn't even have a private conversation without being listened in on.alds Thanks this.

Several drivers I know said they did not mind the cameras as they were doing "nothing wrong'.........then they got fired
RoadCall, yankatank and mathematrucker Thank this.
