I believe early on the auto's had some issues. Wouldn't shift, power band and rpm issues, etc. After talking to some folks who were "Forced" to drive them after years on the stick, most really like it.

I ride. I ride a carbed 95 FLHTP. She's an old police bike that I got with 45 K on it. She has 231K now. This year I began riding an Ultra with fuel injection. I didn't like the power band and had it map adjusted and dyno'd. Much better. I have to think that that the early auto's were like that. In need of mapping to reflect the real world.

LOL, your about the......oh hell, your not worth it, and I'll stop before I degrade the thread into a personal attack for ignorance

    1. Per a phone call with the state of Wyo. Dept. of Revenue, Drivers License Bureau, 10-12-2010, when I spoke with the testor about the license restrictions. He stated, so long as the testee can provide some proof they they have at least minimal schooling exp. with a manual transmission we do not put that restriction in place. Also, I looked at my friends license on 10/11, the only restriction on his license is for wearing prescription lenses.

    2. Get a map, and clue. A typical day for me is 350 to 600 miles, on a slow day I might do 200 miles, on a busy day I do 650 miles. I work 14 hrs per day 5 days a week. So far this week (3 days) I've logged 2,260 miles and been home each night. I'm a local/regional driver, if I do an overnight run, the most I'm gone is 26 hrs, and those runs occur maybe once or twice a month. The most nights I've spent away from home in one year was 70, the fewest, 15, with 20 to 25 being average for the last 13 yrs. Since I drive a fast truck, and I live in an area with 75 mph limits, I can legally log 720 miles in a single day without effort, and I do it several times per month.
Monday, I left Denver at 2am, loaded at Rock Springs, Wyo. at 8am with a 30 minute stop for breakfast, 90 minutes to load and I was back in Denver and dropping the container at the rail at 3pm, 734 total miles. Tuesday, clocked in at 2am, dropped in downtown Denver at 2:45, picked up empty at yard and left for Colby, Ks at 3:30am. 90 minutes +/- to load and I was on the road 8:30am and back in Denver at 12:15pm, did 3 or 4 more drop/hooks in town and was done at 4pm, 498 miles.
Weds., started at 2am, did two local drops, left at 4am taking a loaded container (79,400 lbs gross) to Grand Junction, arrived at 8:40am, 40 minutes to unload and I was back in Denver by 1pm, then another 3 hrs in town doing drop/hook. 550 miles.
Today, started at 2am, did two local drops before taking an empty to load at Bridgeport, Ne., got back in town about 1:30, did 3 more drop/hooks and was off at 4pm. 477 miles.
Friday, most likely I'll spend all day in town since there is no out of town work, I'll probably log 250 miles and never leave the Denver/Metro area.

    3. LOL, guess you've never heard of a laptop.

roughly three days to get it figured out, and probably another month or so to make it fully work. Again, as I pointed out, I had no options, it was take that truck or find a new job. Also, the early autoshifts had one flaw that the new ones don't, they were all programmed for economy, the new ones can be programmed for economy or modified economy/performace.

ding ding ding, my point exactly, but some people overlook that reality.

Not good buddy. Send him a PM, write yourself a note, find another forum but we TRY not to get to personal here. I learned the hard way. Deep breath and always think twice, read thrice before hitting the send key. Ok.

Well many of the ANTI AUTOMATICS have NEVER driven one , so until they do their opinions do not really count.

I had driven the early versions and then recently the newest versions. I still feel that a driver should be experienced on both as a benefit to future employment if they bare planning on being with the big FLEETS.

For O/O's buy what you want your the guy driving it as well as paying for it.
