I'm waiting for a road trainer after finishing CDL school. Many former grads are waiting for a trainer. It could be that the company has a new large account coming on, it could be a lot of turn over, it could be preparation for expansion. I am curious about this practice of hiring 20-30 new drivers a week when there are not enough road trainers to handle the number of new drivers. What am I missing?

Sounds like S.O.P. for the training companies. It was that way when I started in '05. Out of the 30 new guys, I'll say maybe 3 are there in 3 months.

One other thing. While your milling around the terminal and when you get on the truck with your trainer, I want you to eat two cans daily of Stagg Dynamite Hot Chili, unheated, strait from the can.

Very high turnover rate , tax credits and hungry recruiters .
When I first started with Covenant back in 2013 there were 40 in my class ; only about half were there the next week and only 2 stayed past the year mark (My partner and myself)D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

Possibly a bit of both, high turn over rate, tax credit to company, some come into this job thinking it’s going to be a paid vacation, yes I’ve heard guys say this! When they find out it’s an actual job, and not a vaca, they head on home

Recruiters try to sell you a dream, which more times than not turns out to be a nightmare
