Prime is a joke. I was lucky to see what they were all about after 3 wks and got out of there without looking back. They must go thru at least 100 drivers a wk. Thats sad that a company like that takes advantage of so many drivers. I hope he finds a good one its a challenge.

I just hauled a load from Prime Springfields MO to Bethlahem PA I never worked for PRIME but know a few who lease trucks off them and run as OO's. Trucking jobs are a dime a dozen once you have the experience I walked on my 1st Gig at .48 a mile and left the industry for about 7 yrs at 20/hr recruiters will sell you a bucket of crap if you let them find a small mom and pop outfit that your not a number in there computer get in good with them and most likley they will treat you well. Work your ### off and they will value you

Starvintrucker, have you worked for all these companies? If not what makes you an expert on them and what reasons would you provide for me not to work for them?

Part of the problem is poor planning. Get all the endorsements, passport, TWIC for more options. Tanker/hazmat pays the best. Flatbed is next. I'll PM some companies to you, then you can decide which ones to apply with. Apply with all that interest you & then pick from the job offers.

he does have a point. listed companies have an established reputation, now backed up by safety ratings. people stay there for two reasons: easy to get in for a new driver, then one must suffer through 6month to a year in order to get on board with a decent carrier for no one likes fresh out of school quitters. listed companies, or i should say some of them, are a good starting point to get basic skills and damage some equipment in learning process. however, won't be a bad idea at all to look at company safety ratings before rushing in. their poor reputation and messed up equipment might give drivers points they don't need and tickets they can do without. it's pretty clear which trucks get pulled onto scales all the time. imho

is that so? china lives off of slave labor and is taking over the world as we speak. i don't need to mention what thousands of catholic priests done to small children and prior that to variety of groups of people and as of today holy catholic church is fully functioning and popular as ever. bad (evil, unfair) towards those who can't defend themselves due to circumstances of lack of knowledge isn't necessarily bad for business. seems to be good for business even. do you not agree?

Getting the endorcements is a waste of money if you don't plan on using them.

What you said may hold true for OTR, but not the industry as a whole. The best paying jobs in the industry are in LTL/line haul and city p&dc. To be more specific, companies that are unionized and haul their own product.

OP doesn't appear on here for weeks...wonder if life got too good? Sometimes it's fun to makes waves and then get out of the pool and watch.
