Having lost all these things frees a trucker to persure his main love, driving the truck. This way he don't have to have home time, no home to go to, he doesn't have to try to see his wife every couple of months, no wife to go to, and who needs a car when he has that fine shiny truck to live in? He can even tell the company to cut his pay, all he really needs is a meal every day or so, and some water to drink while driving down the hi-way.

My brother took them to court and won because they didn't pay him.

Driving 20+ years and you don't know?
Even for new drivers seems like common sense to me, lowly paid starter companies do not value experience, and your wages will be low regardless. Low paid workers bring down the pay and benefits for everyone at that company.
On time and safe don't matter - you make the same - as the guy who sleeps in, misses appointments, and takes out street signs weekly
If a company has to endlessly "recruit" and advertise, that should tell you something - the best companies need to be "found" - they don't need to bother you with unsolicited calls and emails. -
True it can be a bad driver but I have seen good driver after another leave those big companies because of being mistreated. One example is a friend that I had worked with hauling frac sand for 3 years. The guy was an outstanding driver and a hard worker. He had three small kids and a wife at home. The recession hit in 2008 and he went to Werner. The recruiter agreed that if my friend drove for them that he would see to it that he could go home every other weekend to see his family. The job was supposed to be a regional one. That lasted about 2 months and then Werner saw fit to send my friend to New Jersey. They kept him on the east coast and wouldn't allow him to come home for 6 weeks. He played along not having the money to come home because he was supporting his family and had nothing left over. They finally got him back home and he cleaned out his truck. If you ask me Werner lost a good driver over not keeping their word.
Some of these bigger companies are the scum of the earth. They have no family values, integrity or respect for the driver. I see these people in here stating that it's the drivers fault and I'm telling you that over 80% of the time it isn't. I personally know of 6 drivers that were family or close friends that have been screwed over at least once in the past 20 years.Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this. -
not all drivers are lying about bad things..... that example you gave is a legitamite one. I worked for one of them in my early days, but I don't bash them for it, if people ask about that company I will be honest to anyone who asks.

Why moan about it? Buy your truck and do better for yourself. I cant believe you waste your time crying on here. You listed half of trucking america. Tell me, what can anyone of these companies do to make you happy? I doubt anything since you cant keep a job anyway. Get out of trucking. That will fix your complaining.ewill71 Thanks this.

Good point. I'm not certain that the driver was moaning as much as just making everyone else here aware of some bad companies to work for. I would rather be forewarned rather than stumble into a bad situation. However, with a record of working for that many companies does raise an eyebrow as to if there might not be something more to the situation other than just the companies being at fault. Drivers have to realize that you have to take the good with the bad, especially at bigger companies. The list that this driver put up isn't really new news as most drivers are aware of how impersonal the larger companies can be, and how easy it is for them to lose you in the mix.

^^^^^^^^ one drivers compalaint or bad opinion is not and should not be the deciding factor in someone working for a company. I have seen about 5 or so people ##### about my company and to me , I see 5 people vs 10 tpo 20 positives on this site. that's 2 to 1 up to 4 to 1. really if a person is interested in working for a company they need to listen to actual drivers, not 8 week wariors cause their dispatcher wouldn't give them miles, cause they would rather sleep and sit at truckstops....

Most OTR companies don't count local experience. To them, a local driver whos been driving 20+ years is no better than a student who just left a mill.
