Hi everyone, I have not been active here for quite a while. I now have over 4 months in with Swift out of the Rochelle, IL terminal. I did not expect good things from Swift, and that is what I got. Last weekend I spent nearly 3 days in Plover, WI without a load. Currently I'm at the Loves on I85 Exit 104 in South Carolina. I have been here well over 24 hours with no load, and probably won't have one for at least another 48 hours. My goal was to do at least one year with Swift then move on to a better carrier. I really can't afford to stay any longer. BTW, I have no service failures and no preventables. I came to Swift after being off the road for over 11 years.
Can anyone advise me on carriers with minimum weekly pay packages. It is time to move on, but I don't want to make a lateral move and be in the same situation again.
Thank you in advance for your input.

Nussbaum is a Christian based company that offers a $1050 minimum.I'm sure you have to meet their qualifications for the week to be eligible for it.Don't know if 4 months at Swift is going to work for them. You'll just have to contact them to find out.But if you have been paying attention in the last 11 years. The money to be made is not at cheap van carriers.Any steering wheel holder can haul that stuff.Flat bed, oversize loads, car haulers and hazmat tankers require more work, attention to detail and pay more than a minimum as they shouldslim shady and DoubleO7 Thank this.

Thank You for your reply. I have had my eye on Nussbaum for some time. They require one year recent experience. 1 year was my goal with Swift, but they are starving me. At least they could have me at home if I am not going to run. I just cannot see changing carriers without going to one that guarantees a weekly minimum pay. Otherwise, I fear becoming a driver with 5 jobs in 2 years, and that is not a good place to be.
I will add that when I originally decided to come back to trucking, I wanted to do flatbed again. But the decent companies kept turning me down. So I settled for Swift just to get my foot back in the door. My expectations of Swift were low, but they failed to meet those low expectations. -
Why not find deidicated route? It's not like Swift only has OTR to offer

I don't trust Swift at all anymore. People say that Swift drivers are incompetent, but they have not dealt with Swift's support staff!!
I want out, but I see anything other than a minimum weekly pay package has a lateral move. I drove back in '03 and '04 and know how the game is played. That is why I am an absolute fanatic about maintaining a perfect safety record. I GOAL when backing every time, watch my mirrors like a hawk when cornering, and maintain a lot more following distance than necessary.Last edited: Jan 30, 2016

May trucking company has a minimum weekly guarantee, k&b transportation, covenant transport, those are the ones i can think of.
Be careful of that "weekly guarantee pay" promise that they make. There always a stipulation with that guarantee they make. -
Celadon has some kind of weekly minimum program.
DoubleO7 Thanks this. -
Here's some companies that don't have guaranteed minimum, but you also won't find negative posts on here about the companies or the weekly paychecks.
Abilene Motor Express
Freymiller
Magnum Ltd.
You qualify for all 3 companies. If the websites have "experience required" that is incorrect. These companies trucks also have apu, and a couple have refrigerator and satellite tv hookups.
Abilene drivers post they run hard coast to coast. Pretty much the same for the other two. Try Abilene first @MidWest_MacDaddy
Check all 3 websites. -
Jump ship; it won't hurt your career at all.
