I am currently taking the driving course at my local college and looking to do a lease option to drive for myself (of course through a company like Prime Inc or Schneider). My main question is what all expences should I expect? As a leasee do I then get to choose my own loads or am I still tied to going through the companies dispatchers/brokers?

Drive OTR as a company driver for a year. See what expenses there are, if you actually want the career, and talk with other lease operators.

Where are you located? @Chinatown can give you some leads on company jobs.
As others have said it's a good idea to drive for a year or two to get some experience.Last edited: Jul 28, 2020

I remember one Kansas driver that went with Seaboard Foods as soon as he graduated from cdl school. Said he was going to do a lease purchase.

Being fresh out of school, you won't be able to pick your loads.
Work somewhere at least a year running coast to coast in order to gain experience in all weather/all terrain driving.
Freymiller is decent to get started right out of school and hires new cdl school grads.
