Some drivers don't have anything better to do but tattle on others like a little kid and try to score points with the company.I've told others off for trying to get me in trouble without even knowing the facts. Also get that gauge fixed op so it doesn't happen again.

I would start calling safety on other drivers for every little thing. Make sure they heard from me at least 20 or 30 times day or more...
"yep, I saw him pull out without a pretrip."...
"Me again. Driver in truck ### appeared to be picking his nose while driving. That's distracted driving, isn't it? I thought you should know."
"Hey, I know you're busy but... the driver in ### was just in the bathroom and it sounded like he had diarrhea. I think he's been eating too many corn dogs which could cause a heart attack and a crash. I thought you should know."91B20H8, austinmike, bottomdumpin and 11 others Thank this. -
Well don't take this as a bash, but you're concern with someone calling you in isn't the issue, the running out of fuel is - if you have been driving for that long, you know to keep fuel in the tanks for more than a pickup.
Maj. Jackhole, bigguns, Dave_in_AZ and 8 others Thank this. -
Years ago when I was at TMC (a mega IMO) they had what were called Black Hats. Those guys lived to rat on drivers. And Maverick paid people to drive around in vans looking for safety issues.Dave_in_AZ, EatYourVeggies and bzinger Thank this.

They say landstar is full of these dirty douches. That's why I really don't want to give up my authority. No matter how bad things get.

Schneider Intermodel had a bunch of them. I got written up for not having a zip tie on a front locking pin. Whatever, I guess they get off on being a tattle tale.
bzinger Thanks this. -
I'm pretty sure the op is well aware of that this thread is about company rats. That other driver should be worried about himself he didn't need to turn the op in.

Karma catches up to them eventually. And it's a thing of beauty when that happens.
Heathar, HalpinUout, jethro712 and 2 others Thank this. -
I ratted a guy once, but I didn't do it until after I tried to talk to him.
We were both running empty containers to a drop yard and picking loaded to go back to our warehouse. When I pulled in, I saw him struggling to tug out a container. He was spinning in the snow, so they had fork lift they used to lift off 20' containers tugging him. I dropped mine and got my loaded, and on the way out, I stopped to see if I could help, and I saw why he wasn't moving. I tried to tell him, but he was busy talking on the phone and he waved me off.
I called the boss and told him what a real dummy this guy was. He had been tugging at the trailer for over half an hour and hadn't cranked up the landing gear! I also told the forklift driver, and he did it while our driver was still inside the cab talking on the phone. -
Some people are to smart for their own good.LoudOne Thanks this.
