§392.22 says you have 10 minutes to set out your triangles. If you'd been there 10-15 minutes, they should have been out. That doesn't excuse the other driver calling in on you, because he didn't know if you'd just stopped or if you'd been there a while. Generally speaking, though, if I have to stop I'll give it a quick look to see if it's a quick fix or if it'll take a little longer to get rolling again before I set them out. In any case, though, if it requires communication with the company, they are out before I call to say "I'm broke". At least that way, there's plausible deniability as to exactly how long I've been there...no time stamps on messages, no call history, etc. Besides, I like to have as much info as possible before I start making phone calls.

RATS they are the lowest of the low..once they have **D me over they are dead to me ,,before I crossed the pond I was driving for the same outfit 20+yrs and the office used to tell drivers who had grassed them up as we were all in it together.. any way this evening it was lashing with rain /wind and as I was heading back to the yard empty I saw someone walking on the road (was a 6ml grade over a hilly area then the same on the otherside down and a few more miles before town ,well I slowed down to look and** *me it was one o my buds (his car had died at work /missed the last bus and was heading home) soooo I did what you would expect someone tae do for you I gave him a ride to town no big deal ....WELL it was to someone ,I got hauled into the traffic office when I got into the yard given a written warning about passengers in company vehicles woulnt listen to my explanation , Next morning was asked to go see the yard manager ,,told him what I had done /weather etc and he told me "you don't leave friends stuck at night in bad weather" he would deal with the traffic office......and then by the way it was &&&&&& that phoned in on you (another driver at the depot!!!). Got out off the office and went right into the canteen stood up on a chair and told the 10 or so drivers/machine men who ratted me out...The ratty prick lasted another month or so as we all refused to speak /have anything to do with him.(as well as my bud laying him out at our local bar hehe).all true happened in mid 90s.

When I was at Pride, they were considered a mid-sized carrier and it was common for the suck-ups to chat up their respective dispatchers whenever they were in the Salt Lake terminal.

You state: "no individual driver is ever truly rewarded for his loyalty to a mega." This is true for the most part, but there's no way of getting into the minds of every little pea brain driver and his motivations.

One technique the megas use is to have the office staff build rapport with the drivers. How often have I seen slogans like "You're not just a number with us" or "Hometown national carrier" or "Our dispatchers know you by name" etc etc etc. These tactics can very well give drivers the illusion their voice matters. Therefore, it follows the small-minded rats will snitch to gain what they perceive to be more status. I stated specifically in post #15 they're too stupid to see the big picture.

Furthermore, even megas have their pets; these pets often - not always - rise to the top in terms of getting better loads by pulling chicken #### moves.

So, feel free to believe whatever you want. It contradicts what I've seen and believe about human nature.

Perfect example of what I'm talking about. Some losers out there just get off on it. It's like a drug to them.

I think you're making a huge deal out of something that wont amount to anything. Maybe remember who the guy is and keep that in mind if he wants anything from you but other than that you can't let people like this bother you.

Carriers are not your friend. Some can't wait to hurt you. That's life. Sad part is some of your fellow drivers think they are carriers , not your fellow brothers.
I found out something cool though ... Just because a phone rings doesn't mean you have to answer it. "IF" it's important they will leave a message.

"When I was driving I would NEVER blow past a driver on the same team. That just wasn't done back then."

I drive for an o/o leased to a large company. I received a printed list of fireable offenses. One is non-emergency stopping on the shoulder. Stopping to assist a company driver could get me fired. My instinct tells me to stop. Self preservation keeps me rolling.
