I worry that this might be the very first, but not the last, pay decrease thread

What is Oregon Transit Tax, and why is it being deducted from your settlement as a company driver?

JoeyJunk and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

For what it’s worth… in the last few weeks I’ve noticed a drastic shift in many carriers advertisement for drivers; several are now requiring anywhere from 2-5 yrs experience. I came across one few days ago that required 8 yrs experience! Something definitely changing, and it’s practically an overnight change. And many carriers are also only offering 40-50 cpm again.

Don't sign it. Don't quit. Pull their freight when you absolutely have to. Finagle as much time at home as you can to explore other options and, when you find one, don't worry about two weeks notice. You don't owe them anything. If they let you go, you can file for unemployment. They might make a case for cause, but know your employment agreement and try to toe the line. On the west coast, the onus is on the employer to prove their case.

    1)
Whatever is or isn't going to happen, be sure to have either cash, travelers checks, or a prepaid credit card with sufficient money on it to pay for either car rental, air fare, train fare, bus fare, cab fare, possibly motel expenses, to be able to get yourself back home.
    2) If you have any spare savings available, try of pay off as many debts as possible, if not all of them. You especially want to be sure you have sufficient funds for at least 4 to 6 months of rent or mortgage payments to AVOID HOMELESSNESS. This way you can take a little extra time to find another job that suits you well. However, REALLY pound the pavement every day to find that job, the sooner the better.
    3) Also, have auto insurance premiums & car registration money set aside, in order to be able to drive your car, avoiding problems should a police officer pull you over for any reason.

    NOTE:
Initially, I myself pay up to 3 months rent in advance, paying a rent check every month, with an extra 3 months of rent money in a separate savings account. I learned this the hard way after having been terminated from a job in the past.

The absolute best of luck to you & your family, God bless you and your family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.
