Company wants to change my off duty time to sleeper berth so I can drive after 8

    That is exactly the way to handle it, if you're not okay to drive, for any reason, don't. I know I've shut my alarm off and taken a 12 hour nap instead of 10 simply because I couldn't fall asleep the night before. I wouldn't suggest ignoring management for a couple hours doing it though, you'd hate to wake up to paramedics banging on the door to see if you're still breathing.
