I agree with you. When I posted they have the right I was just stating what I've read not how I feel about it.
Apparently, it isn't specifically against the law for an employer to search an employee's personal cell phone, but there are tons of laws that could be breached by doing so. Searching an employee's cell phone is a mine field full of dangers, but apparently isn't illegal.
Tech is developing far too fast for laws to keep up, but eventually I think we will see better protections against this kind of abuse.
Here's one article that touches on the subject.

I will need to check that fine print.
Thanks for a new angle on the topic. -
Heres how you get around the bs. I have an old flip phone still has service. That's my work phone. Brokers say you need to download our app or get marcopoint. I tell em I don't have a smartphone I have a dumb flip phone no texting no browsing and can't download

I'm presuming this discussion started due to the use of the Transflo app.
I used it (voluntarily) across two different smart phones to send paperwork to the company. It was easy and free for me (unlimited data). I finally gave up on it because my photography skills rank just below my breathing normally under 18' of seawater skills. Half the time, I had to find a truckstop and rescan the bills anyway, so I just gave up and uninstalled the stupid app. -

The company I work for gives us a phone, and it has unlimited in canada and u.s., they told me to use it like a rented mule, I can use it for whatever I feel like. Now if they told me I had to supply my own "smart phone" to do their work, go pack sand would be the appropriate answer from me.
I'm really amazed at how addicted people are to their phones, they can't leave their house with out it, it's like a part of their body.
