I agree about the money part. My redwing boots are $280.00 at the amish store, $400 at regular redwing stores, I would pay it again and again, as I already do. $500 or $2000, I just want to find a great seat. So once you broke in the seat cushion, it got better? Also does it have a tall base or can you remove the base, I need the seat to be lower so that I can put air in it. I can't sit too high because of my drop visor.

I had it installed and they told me it required the base. It sits at 15" with no air and at my setting, the 2nd to the lowest, it's around 16.5". 1.5" of travel can't be what it has so ther must be some type of locking mechanism in there because it feels like there is much more travel on big bumps.

I think I just got used to the feel of it versus any break-in honestly. I was a little disappointed at first because I was expecting it to feel like riding on a cloud but I realized how much more refreshed I felt after a day of driving real soon. My old seat bounced up and down a lot but wasn't giving me any support. This one doesn't move nearly as much but the firm support feels great after a long day. And there are so many adjustment that it's a little overwhelming. I'm also a heavier guy, around 290 and 5'11" so your mileage may vary

I agree with you here, don't look at $$ you spent for your health; i used to work waiter/ bartender at sea on board of cruise ships before driving, the shoe was the most important item for long hours walking.
Now, after 16 years driving trucks, i have a problem with my right knee , was getting very painful over past weeks ; keeping the foot on gas/brake pedal 10 hours/day in same position wears the knee joint; I did some X-rays this week, not sure is the meniscus, patellofemoral pain syndrome or driver knee syndrome.
I read about this last condition, many people, not driving for living, have driver knee pain driving a couple of hours per day only.

I've sure revised my cheap ways of thinking with regards to seating over the past year. A couple of months after posting in this thread back when it originally popped up I bought a pair of cheap National Seats. They felt ok at the dealership and a little under $800 seemed like a good deal so I got a matching pair. I figured when I wore one out I'd switch it with the other one. My lower back has been bothering me ever since.

I wish I had taken more time to look at the higher end seats with more adjustability. I've spent about $600 on a chiropractor the past month or so. I've never had back problems in my life before. The doc says my biggest problem is my spine flattening out from sitting all the time and poor support. I appreciate all the feedback here on different seats.

My new advice to anyone out there needing a seat is don't cheap out on a basic one with very little adjustability. You spend most of your life behind a wheel or asleep you need good support for your back. Being miserable and hurting yourself ain't worth saving a few hundred bucks.

Well if your otr and basically LIVE in your truck for what 30-40-45 weeks out of the year. AND are going to be sitting in it for 2-3-4-5 years. Then being comfortable, and having something nice. For about or less than a weeks settlement. Is an investment i can justify.

I agree. I remember the day when you were lucky just to have air-ride.

Some fleet bought a bunch of trucks from the local KW dealer. The buyer made the dealer remove all the passenger seats before delivery. I don’t recall the brand but they were nice seats, and the dealer had them for sale for $300 a piece. Even though the maroon color doesn’t match any of my trucks, I bought 4 of them. Nicest truck seat I’ve ever sat in, but probably wouldn’t have bought them if they weren’t such a good deal.

You dont necessarily have to spend a small fortune on a seat to get one that fits you and if you didn't that's great. But if you ever start having back problems from a seat man ol man you'll pay whatever you have to get make it go away I guarantee you that. Air ride seats might have been considered a luxury in 1982 but we're past that now. Sitting for hours on end is terrible for your health as bad as eating a poor diet.
