Lol , you bet I did.
Fast food delivery is not for the faint of heart.
Pays very well , has great time off , keeps you in great shape too ! ( I ran a 3 day a week route. ) Monday / Tuesday / Thursday.
I was off more than I worked.
I started in 1978 and IIRC the base pay was around 28 to 40 a year. Great money back then. Enough for my wife to stay home until our boys were in college.

Unfortunately, it's not just Trucking that has seen an inflation adjusted loss in "real income" or "buying power". In the 1950's through the 1960's, the majority of families in this country had probably 3-6 kids, Dad went to work, Mom stayed home, usually 2 cars, and most owned a house. Dad's income, even a modest one was enough to provide for all of that. Not even close today. I am afraid it is just going to get worse. Corruption in Government from the local level and up to the Federal level. (Exponentially worse at the Federal level.) I might add, It is rampant in BOTH Political parties. Corruption to the highest degree in the Corporate world, banking, finance, etc. Greed and dishonesty are just the order of the day. The middle class, those of us that make this Country work is rapidly declining. We are soon going to be a Country of the Super Rich, controlling every aspect of the lives of the other 95%. It ain't gonna be pretty. It is happening right before our very eyes.
201 and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
That's how it was for both my parents family. Mom came from a family of 7 and dad 6. Both of my grandma's only ever worked part time here and there. My dad's father was o/o and part time at the ship yard and on mom's side grandpa worked for IBM for pretty much his whole career until they pretty much forced him into retirementDockbumper Thanks this.

Bingo, and they wonder why gang activity is so popular. After things got so out of control ( 90's) one parent could no longer make ends meet, and REQUIRED the other parent to work, leaving the kids behind to fend for themselves, and this is what happens. I agree, we're on the tip of the iceberg here, and I think things will get a HECK of a lot worse, and the real kicker, is the people that have money, don't think there's anything wrong, until nobody takes their order at Sonic,,,
