Point is, time limit in this case doesn't matter. 1 minute or 1,000, what the op did was not a valid use of pc. It's not an interpretation, it's very black and white.

A long distance move such as that could be considered "repositioning equipment for further dispatch" if it gets you closer to your next dispatch... Regardless of whether you already have that dispatch or not.

Plain and simple... If it is not SPECIFICALLY mentioned in FMCSA guidance then you are running a very high risk of getting popped for it. And when you do get popped for it, the officer can legitimately cite you with "Falsification of Logs." I dont know about you, but thats not a violation I want associated with my name or my truck...

So for everyone that wants to try and justify PC that is not SPECIFICALLY mentioned in FMCSA Guidance, just keep that "Falsification of Logs" violation in the back of your mind... Is it really worth that risk?

No it is been discussed by state authorities throughout the country, Zvar is right, the word reasonable is an important word to the guidance.

Bean Jr. and Wasted Thyme Thank this.

I already knew that, but I wanted to put you in the awkward position of having to admit it

    Thanks!

I've had 4 DOT inspections in the last 6 weeks and they've all given me clean inspection sheets despite beaucoup PC on my logs. Must not be the heinous crime as portrayed by some in this thread

Admit what? That you've been answered six times already?

Because cops are ignorant of DOT law. Just wait until their ignorance gets you a wrongful ticket you have to fight.

    Well
This is something you guys asked for and the fmcsa responded by giving you clear guidance with examples and you still don’t get how it works.

It is to be used as a reasonable form of movement for food or rest.

the company can make the rules for it or not allow it at all.

    and it isn’t a regulation ... period!
it only takes one enforcement officer to audit the logs and say 14 hour oos or worse yet 34 hour oos.

Bean Jr. and brian991219 Thank this.

    Well........
Since we’re on a roll explaining things

How exactly does split logging work then?
Do I carry the 1 or subtract it from the sum of X(Y) ?

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

if you PC home or anywhere for more than a few miles, it is best to do so, without going through scales on the way.

    Timin770 Thanks this.
