component specs?

    The only problem is that extra $70 doesn't get you any more power and forces you to use a smaller radio.
    this would be the next logical step.

    After looking at Texas Star's website and the datasheets for the 2sc2290 and 2sc2879, I see that you are correct about needing a smaller radio to drive the 667V. But given the 2290's rated PEP is 60 watts, and being that both amps have 4x 2879 finals, shouldn't the DX 667V have a greater output since its group of 2879s is being driven harder than the DX500V's?

    As for me, if I ever get another amp, it will be a Messenger.

    Ray retired due to health issues. Messenger amps are no longer made.
    It doesn't take much to drive the dx500.

    I was gonna say good luck getting a messenger I'd look for a Henry amp if possible... I had a chance to get one a couple years back. I should have grapped it up.
