they didn't have a full version and a lite version last time i looked into it. LOL.
it's nice to have up to 4 people though. but it says only one computer. that's a drawback to me.
$60 with a 60 day trial included. it WAS cheaper then ddl. till ddl came out with the lite version. but it can be used on more then on computer.
took me a whole 5 minutes to figure out trucklogger. but i'm somewhat pc savvy.
ddl gave me a headache. LOL.

Wow, must have been back before '06 that you looked. Not that much has changed.
DDL can be the easiest program in the world or most complicated. What I have learned after trying to train people on it is that you have to start by just looking at the log portion and nothing else. Then start adding use of functions as you get comfortable. If you try to start big you will walk away.
I downloaded and was trying it but it won't save what you have entered if you close it down. I hate limited trials. From a logging stand point that makes the trial all but worthless.
Does it have a function that allows you to enter onto what looks like a log sheet? I do like the feature that allows you to change a group of entries forward or back. In DDL you have to change each entry.bbblotliz Thanks this. -
Any Landstar drivers using any of these. I see DDL has the LS log format, but I'm put off by their negative attitude towards anything but Microsoft. I'd much rather do my logs on my Xoom Android tablet or my iPhone. Hell I'd trade the Xoom for an iPad2 if someone made a LS compatible logging app.

what i like about ddl is ANYTHING you can do on a paper log (loose leaf) you can do with ddl even days later if you need to (just reprint them) keeps up with your day's out (per diem) my laptop, printer, ink, paper ddl program, are all a tax write off also...

Amen brother, ITS came out with that app for the phone but it is awful.
If you work for a carrier and want to print logs you can turn in then DDL is your only option.
And it is not so much attitude against anything else. Small shop doing this part-time. I just don't think they have the resources to generate a new program on different platform.bbblotliz Thanks this. -
Nah Bill, small shop or not, it's about responding to changing technology. For a company such as DDL, who was a technological marvel when they started, to completely ignore the Apple, Android and Blackberry markets is ridiculous.
Hey let me use my Windows phone, oh yeah, I retired that quite a few years ago. The smartphone market share has exploded compared to truckers with laptops on stands next to the driver's seat. I have a buddy that's a flight attendant for one of the big legacy airlines. HE designed an app that deals only with THAT airline to help flight attendants bid routes, or something like that. Talk about a limited market.
Maybe I should take the ball and roll with it. I haven't programmed since I was fluent in Pascal and BASIC, on a Tandy, but if my high school buddy can do it, it can't be that hard.bbblotliz Thanks this. -
I look at it a different way - with DDL. This is a dead company that the founder/programmer has the integrity to continue to support it despite making no money off the 1,000's of customers. Not 10's of thousands.
My conversation with him many years ago I learned that what he had that was a huge market ended up being only a nitch market. Before tablets he had no money to develop it further. What do you expect him to do? write a whole new product for a market segment that values software at under $5/app?bbblotliz Thanks this. -
How much is a log book? $3 at the truckstop. Most guys buy 1 a month, some buy more. If the owner was charging $3 a month for a couple thousand users, he'd be making money and could afford to have someone design an app and a decent website (I could do a better job with my virtually non-existant HTML skills).

i used trucklogger for the full 60 days before buying it. had no problems saving.
i used it back in 07 when i was doing a papertrail on being an o/o. for the 60 days trial.
i came back on the road only 9 months ago. again i used the 60 days and then bought it.
i started with a braind new dell laptop i bought before hitting the road. the dell crashed 6 months later. all that info is gone unless i want to pay 500 to retreive the hard drive. thus the reason i now send myself an email once a week with the backup file attached. along with my accounting program i bought from dieselboss for $28. instead of using msft office. i download openoffice which is free. and works with all msft and corel documents.
every week i email myself both files. and download them on the home pc. if either laptop or pc crashes. i'll always have a weekly file in my email. -
i have a 8gb sd card always in my laptop for backup. i've been running ddl on a acer aspire one (the old 8.9 in netbook) for 3 years
bbblotliz Thanks this.
