I work for Comtrak.I can say it is a good company.I am Home every night.I make from 2000 to 2700 miles for 5 days.I don't wont to work 6 days.If you wish to work 6 days you will make like 2500 to 3000 miles on week.I am happy with the freedom with this company. If i don't like some load they give me something else.

I ran intermodal briefly here in the Carolinas over 10 years ago. I can't remember any of the yards being worth a darn (actually one was halfway decent).

The window clerk at Comtrak was a smart mouth quota hire with a chip on his shoulder. The Norfolk Southern office turned mostly 'all gay' with the exception of a newly arrived gang of 'thugs for hire' I had knowledge of when I lived and worked in Florida.

The CSX yard was the best of the sorry bunch. The company I drove intermodal for closed shop long ago - good riddance.

I was at Comtrak Charlotte for a little over a year. Lee was the terminal manager and Donald was asst manager. Both were great guys to get along with. Lee left, and Donald is now terminal manager. I never worked under Donald as manager, but he was a very nice, very easy to get along with guy. If their pay was better I would go back. The run I had paid well, much better than anything but the in town stuff, but that was because no one else wanted it.

The company will do exactly what they tell you. At least they did then when Mike owned it. I don't know how things are now. My problems were with the zone pay. Some places paid HHG just under the zone line where the rate would increase, but it was actually over 30 miles farther because of the way a truck had to run. I also didn't like paying cargo insurance on someone elses container freight. They also charge you to do your quarterly fuel taxes, and you always owe, even if you never leave the state.

They are decent people all through the company.

Hey Star, give us an idea what the pay structure is like. They are quick to advertise the hometime, but i've seen nothing on pay. thanks!
