Yes, out west it is much more common, because terminals are farther apart. I voluntarily ran from Indy to Fontana California a few times and there are a ton of sleepers. But boonie lives in Indiana, shouldnt have to worry about that. Plus, if she got on at Freight, she would have to start as a city driver. You have to have 2 years experience to go linehaul.

Right, weve got sleepers but not very many in the midwest. My terminal has between 70-80 tractors, and only 1 sleeper now.

Dang! 22 years!!! :biggrin_25521: Why in the world would UPS Parcel folks wait 22 years for a TT job when they could just go straight into Freight? Heck, it sounds like a good workout to me and a way to keep healthy.:yes2557: And to top it off, why would someone want to wait seven years to be a package car driver instead of going to Freight to instead drive a TT and end up making the same amount (without the wait, right)? Someone said the benefits are better through Parcel? How so?

Oh, and thanks for the compliment, by the way.

You might wanna consider the Conway deal if your looking for full time deal. That UPS thing aint all its cracked up to be because when you go there you will be getting in line behind alot of guys looking to move up.There is no telling how long the wait would be.My brother works for UPS freight and if you could get on with them as a dock worker you have a pretty good chance of being able to go full time as a city driver, they require there dock hands to have CDLs and lots of options to run linehaul on the weekend. As far as the pkg side of UPS I would suggest to pass on it.Dont know your age but its great if your getting out of high school and can ride the wait out but if you have much age on you at all it just doesnt seem worth it to me.Stick to the freight side and hit up all the LTL companies.Best of luck to you on whatever route you choose

What about about FedEx Freight? They run a pretty similar operation to UPS and Con-Way don't they? I've thought about them myself but was pretty sure they require TT experience.

I dont know much about them, except that they just merged with Fedex National which I think put alot of guys out of work.
