Con-Way Freight vs. FedEx Freight for new driver?

    C'mon driver, you get used to it - especially the pay stubs..haha.. Line-haul isn't for everyone but I'll be running it for a long time to come..

    I don't blame ya there! Tried that once myself, and it didn't work.

    Can't sleep during the daytime . . . unless I'm snoozing in an idling rig.:biggrin_2556:

    Just another weakling..lol..

    Night line-haul equals life here..haha..

    I could not imagine anything other than missing my 530 PM alarm, sleeping till 7 PM, getting it on with my girlfriend good, rushing into work, then grinding gears while spilling coffee all night long - at Con-way it's kinda like a sickness we develop always trying to gain a better spot on a better run..

    Line-haul for life....

    And I am glad there are those who feel like you do so I don't have to run it. The other guys asked me how did I do OTR then? Simple, it's called flatbeddin'. It's easy to set up a schedule where you start bright and early and are shut down at a decent time when all of your pickups and deliveries are daytime only. That's the good thing about flatbeddin'. You can sleep like a normal person and not a vampire. I worked rotating shifts for 9 yrs at a chemical company. And no, I never got used to sleeping in the daytime. Always woke up with a headache and feeling like crap.

    Get used to it huh Jake? I lost my tractor the other morning due to a rollover. The line haul driver killed her on his return with a via after almost 20 years line haul. He was fine but it did kill a tractor, two trailers, and a lot of freight. On the good side it looks like I've got a new Freightshaker for my peddle run. Cruise, XM radio, fuel gauge, and wait for it.............. a jakebrake. LOL

    Haha.. I was driving a 2010 for a little - too bad the JAKEBRAKE only works over 55 MPH..haha.. They are really nice to drive though..

    Have you seen the collision avoidance system on these freightliners? They will actually apply the brakes if they think you are too close and not stopping fast enough to suit them. And on a bad note, the driver that rolled my tractor the other day was terminated after about 20 years of service. Apparently if you roll a rig it's policy that you are terminated. But I think it's that way with most companies.

    I think if you you roll one with HazMat in it you are terminated. Could have changed though.

    and i'm sure it depends on circumstances.
