I really don't get the point of having a TL division and still hiring subcontractors (subpar contractors) to haul longhaul freight. Would SEEM more intelligent insurance wise to keep everything in house.
Con-Way Freight_How do I get in ?

Just posted my info on the Con Way website job board. Nothing in my area for drivers, which sucks because there is a terminal not even 10 min. from my house! Will be watching for openings/postings! Is there any way to apply directly at the terminal? Or does it need to be online?

Just go to the terminal and face to face with the HR guy so he knows you. He deals with a #### ton of online apps and if he can go, ahh I remember that guy, you might get a shot when things open up. I checked the website and over 200 terminals are hiring.
If you dont have your cdl permit, go get it at least and all the endorsements..they run triples across 80.ACH1130 Thanks this. -
ABF is looking for casual dock and local in Akron and Canton. ABFjobs.comRedRabbit Thanks this.

ABF is a good company, but you will be on that flex board for years. They have a really really low turn over. They also have their own school they send you to. It's 4 weeks long, they pay for hotel, give you spending money and reimburse you for the gas.

I just would like to add when you start with Con-way Freight, you will NOT recive a pay check for 3 weeks. We get paid EVERYWEEK.... but it is two weeks behind! so you will work Mon-Fri, and Mon-Fri and then Mon-Thursday..... and we get paid on Thursdays... at least in Kansas. and I belive that is when the whole company gets paid. after you start getting paid it is all good. I really kinda like getting paid 2 weeks behind because you know if you can go out to eat or go on a trip or whatever... you can judge what you do 2 weeks ahead of time.

Not in NY when I worked for CWF. I got paid my second week I worked there. The checks were a week behind not two. I never even heard of that, I wouldnt like it that way but thats my preference. And we were paid every fridayfob115 Thanks this.

Well I put my app in online so we will see what comes my way! I also put one in with ABF for casual driver/dock. So the lines are in the water. Thanks for the advice.

I know of some areas that are only one week behind because of local/state laws. but out here in Kansas we get paid 2 weeks behind and we get paid on Thursday. some areas may differ... so that is a question people may want to ask so that dont assume onething and get a differnent...
ACH1130 Thanks this.
