Con-way orientation 10/1/12

It was an overall enjoyable experience. Only students go to crowder and idk if its just students who go on the obstacle course or not. Its just to get u to use all ur mirrors. Its too in depth for me to go into, its basically left and right turns, serpentine, diminishing lane, and bumper and dot bumper stops. By the way ur recruiter prob said pack for 7-10 days of clothing. DON'T. There's hardly any space in ur trainers truck and u get chances to do laundry. Pack for 4 days max

 

10/4 your paid cash 2 days of it and money on your company atm card on the last day. Paid for room at the holiday inn.

 

Its pretty easy i just finished the week boot camp at crowder I'm with a finisher now....the trainers are great John and Keith but for the 45th degree backing you have 2 chances to pass..you also have to pass a pre-trip con-ways way which is easier and shorter you just name what you looking for. also BE CAREFUL on your driving test there is a left turn that is very tricky but as long you use your head be smart don't get nervous you should be fine we had a student who panic and hit the curve got sent home so just be careful. also stay away from finisher TIM GARCIA he sucks doesn't let you drive becuase he hates being a finisher I'm with my second Finisher and his great his name is STEVE KEEN his a GREAT finisher im learining so much. good luck

Man that left turn was cake compared to some turns in the real world. A kid in my group hit it too but got another chance bc he was a suck up kiss ### lol.

 

I am a student at a trucker school, me and a classmate r looking to team together. What r the avg miles teams are getting and does it all depend on who u have as a dispatcher? I also looked on their page, and I read that they have a guaranteed team pay program which guarantees a week pay for 5000 miles, it's for eligable drivers who adhere to the program guidlines. How do u become eligable and what r the guidelines?

 

Most teams are averaging 5000-6000 miles and it always depends on your dispatcher and if you are ealways on time. That 5000 guarenttee is after 1 year of accident free and never being late

 

Is it easier to get hired as a trucker student?
Or if I take a cdl mill class before hiring?
I already have all written endorsment with "TWIC" and hazmat background.

 

You might wanna call the company you're interested in to see which schools they "approve" of... not all schools are equal because there is a private school nearby that ppl graduate from they don't even know how to shift but they got a CDL... that does you no good for the road test that companies give at orientation.
