Con-way shares fall on pension liability concerns

NEW YORK -
Investors pulled back from Con-way Inc. on Monday amid a broader market rally, after the trucking company said a multi-employer pension plan wants a $619 million payment related to a former subsidiary's liability.
According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing late Friday, the Central States, Southeast and Southwest Area Pension Fund says Con-way (nyse: CNW - news - people ) is liable for the cost of its Consolidated Freightways Corp. unit withdrawing from the pension plan.
