I've been with this company for only 6 months. Everyone in my class has already quit. This company is so unorganized its unbelievable. I arrive at home for home time and they tell me to drop the trailer someplace then once I come back they dispatch on a load with no trailer. They want us to enter 00000 when we have no trl so thats what I did. My dispatchers calls me sounding upset asking where did you drop your trl. I say where I was dispatched to do so. She ask again where so I need to give the location. She ask if I've already taken my 3 days off. They just have no clue. My last dispatch was to a P O Box. Yeah Really. Howd they miss that one. Planners suck. They have no idea how to plan anything, or relay. I went regional and they NEVER keep me in my region. I'm still doing Canda from South. They are loosing so many great people here because of the crap they pull. Management is so out of touch with Drivers. They dispatch you for drop and hook so you hurry to get there and the shipper says its a live load. So you burn time waiting. I'm not a person to job hop but if this keeps getting worse I'm gonna have to be another one of there turnovers. Everything was so positive when I started. Now I don't look forward to tomorrows. If you know what I mean. My advise is to not waste time on the unhappiness @ Conway Truckload. They are hiring like crazy cause people and quitting faster than they can hire.

And they say its like family here. What there not telling you is its the side of the family everyone hates. Trucks have a sign that says its better here. I say #### is it really this bad or worse at others. I'm shocked then.

I have a hard time believing that Ops asked you to drop your trailer to go home, they won't even let you drop it when you want to. For artuments sake let's say they did have a BT truck in the area that needed to utilize the trailer. Of course your fleet manager is going to want to know why you don't have your trailer!!? She or he has 60-70 trucks to keep track of, if they forgot to tell her... She would find this surprising. Whenever we get a load that says it is a drop and hook that we want to pick up early, we ASK Ops to make sure, so we don't waste our time. Have you heard of CYA? It means do things to cover your #####. Don't assume it is a live load or D&H because it says so. As far as the PO Box issue, wouldn't you call ops when you reviewed the load info BEFORE you got dispatched to see what was going on? To me it sounds like a lack of experience and communication have played a bigger role in your complaints than the lack of organization on the companies part. When you move on to a "better" company, I look forward to hearing about how you NEVER get home. The grass is always greener.

I am not planning to stay at Conway for life, actually. I have a job with a new company that hauls specialized freight lined up in 6 months. As far as basic dry van freight hauling for a mega company goes, I don't think you will find much better!! I am ready for something new and challenging. Work smarter, not harder...right? I'm just tired of hearing about every bump in the road the rookies this place hires have and turn around to blame someone else. They should know how much much worse it could be....

But maybe this IS her favorite company!

One thing I've come to realize while reading these forums is that people like me with no experience must think driving a truck is just like any other 9-to-5 job and they really do believe the marketing material as the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. My guess is the truth is somewhere in the middle between "this is a horrid place" and "X Trucking Company is the perfect employer."
To me, it's like driving. Stay alert and engaged, do your homework, and go into your new job with your eyes wide open and your mouth tightly closed, knowing that you are starting at the bottom and have to prove yourself to the dispatchers. Then, and only then, will your DM know who you are among the 60-70 other names and numbers s/he is dealing with at any moment. Then, and only then, will you get the routes, mileage, and hometime you want. Irritate them and guess what?Conwaygirl and venne Thank this. -
I didn't start this thread....
