Right on about the money. We are on duty a whole lot more than 14 when we have a student, regardless what the log says. It is a tough line as a trainer. But the reality is, someone has the job of getting them a CDL, someone else takes care of health screening, someone else manages their personal finances...our only job is to make sure they do the job safely and on time.

Having said that, I save a ton of money by cooking in the truck for me and my students if they pitch in for groceries. I lost 30 pounds in trucking due to my diet. No longer need blood pressure medicine since the loss. Then I go for a walk after dinner. Hopefully they learn by example. That's the best we can do for our students.

Don't quit caring, its just that we can't live their lives for them. Keep up the good work.

Hmmm tough question...I just wander around and when I see something on tv that I want to watch in one of the trucks, I just peek in their window. YIKES!!! I crack me up sometimes.

Check with recruiting...they may have issues below I-4 during periods when they are have too many in South Florida. I have heard noises about hiring below there, but there may be flexibility if you are already an employee and they are happy with you. It pays to check it out before you move.
