As for your question about Con-Way, you may want to think twice about joining this company. They give you a good sell when you come on with the company, telling you that you will get overtime after 50 hours, but they keep you below 45, so they don't have to pay you overtime. They discontinued their pension and now all you have is 401(k). You do get vacation, but not always when you want it. Seniority will push you to the bottom of the list for vacation. There is no company convenience days off. The top drivers have to work and the bottom drivers do not get to work when work is slow. Con-Way Southern Express is the lowest paid among the Con-Way companies with no expected change in the future. The drivers I have talked to tell me that they would rather have spent the last 15 or so years working for another company. Be careful in investing your life with this company. Remember you have to pay for your insurance - 1% of your pay. When you get a raise we expect that to go up with the raise, so you lose and they benefit. Good luck!

con way has excellent pay and benefits, they do have training, and yes if you get on a linehual board you will drive,do dockwork and hook.hooking may sound like alot of work but when you do it a few times you will be able to hook in a matter of ten minutes unless you have triples then maybe 15.doing your own hooking will take all doubt about whether or not it was done right, and by all means always look under trailer to see that everything is properly latched, dont just pull the handvalve in the tractor and tug on trailers to see if they are hooked.
