Ain't that the truth...goes double that I have the CCW. I know that in NE I have to show my permit whenever I show my license to any peace officer...if I'm carrying or not...now that I have a CDL, I have painted myself for possible inspections, just because I have the permit. If I don't show, and state patrol checks...I could end up behind the vertical bars myself...stupid rule if you ask me...but rules are rules.
Personally I don't plan on bringing my peace with me...the only weapon I'll bring is what is in between my ears. I have talked my way out of confontrations before...I plan on not being in one again.

Hopefully that's changing as recent court decisions have been swinging back towards the rights of gun owners. -
The House did pass a bill that would recognize nationally the CCW permit last November...and just within the last week, the Senate has made their proposal...I'm a little sketchy on the details, but I can hope for the best.

I carry in my truck. Wisconsin recently passed their own CC law and I got my permit in December.
I have two that I carry with me... a Ruger .380 LCP that I carry on my person and a CZ82 Czech Military/Police 9mm that I keep in the cab in a lock box.
I keep to myself on the road but I have had a few instances where having my own weapon would have been a good idea... at least would have made me a little more confidant.
Years ago I got accosted by a couple of guys at Chicago's South Water Market looking for a free handout at 3AM. After sizing up my situation, I wound up giving them $20.00 to go away...which they did but only after following me from the receiver's dock to the parking lot across the street.
Same thing happened in Jersey City at Rube's Truck Stop... and I was with my buddy Brian one night sitting at the LA Truck Terminal when two dudes jumped up on Brian's W9 looking to score some dope... Brian just smiled and pulled out his nickel plated .44 Magnum and pointed it at the guy on his step box... pretty funny how fast they disappeared.
And there have been others, too.
Now I deliver to two chip manufacturers in Detroit during the summer. One forces you to park on the street and stand at the gate to talk to the guard... dope houses and bad guys all around... not very safe. The other at least allows you to walk onto the property to check in but you are still parked on the street... I'm locked and loaded at both places.Motownfire and truckerdan90 Thank this. -

It's the natural way of forums. There is no way around it so either ignore the new threads or go with the flow.Motownfire Thanks this. -
Go ahead and carry, not a problem at all ,Till ya hit NYC or go tru DC or a military base or Canada any one of them will find you locked up and your truck impounded. (that will make dispatch happy)
And before ya give me the "he's a NY anti gunner" I've had a NY permit for almost 30yrs.
I'm not saying don't carry, you just have to give it a lot of thought. In a company truck you have no real say so over where you go so how do you stay out of those area's? Or do you just leave the gun in the truck and hope for the best? -
No problem sleeping at night and definately not concerned.
