I no longer run Canada... nor do I run New York City. Every military base I went to allowed you to declare your weapon and they would store it for you at the guard house until you left. I didn't carry at the time when I was hauling military freight but some drivers did.
When I run thru Illinois I have my guns in a locked case bolted to the wall of my sleeper. I keep the ammo separate.
When stopped by the law each state has it's separate rules on when, and if, you need to declare you have a permit. Some states you MUST tell the officer as soon as you are stopped... some states leave that to the officer. I have been stopped by the Indiana State Police twice this year but, each time, I had my weapons in the locked case, unloaded with the ammo in a separate place... I never told them I had a weapon.
Concealed carry not only applies to firearms... tasers and knives are also part of most states law. So that 8" hunting knife you have next to the seat may get you in as much trouble as a firearm...

The company I'm starting with HAS informed me in an email that they will alow me a taser, as long as it's handheld, and does not project it's voltage. Are those the ones you are talking about Krooser? -

ELECTRIC WEAPONS (STUN GUNS) AND CCW
Has the law changed regarding electric weapons?
Yes. Prior law made it a felony for anyone, other than law enforcement, correctional officers and military personnel acting in the line of duty from possessing an electric weapon. Under the CCW laws, the prohibition against possessing or going armed with an electric weapon does not apply to any of the following:
A CCW licensee or an out-of-state licensee. An individual who goes armed with an electric weapon in his or her own dwelling
or place of business or on land that he or she owns, leases, or legally occupies.
Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2g).
The prohibition against transporting an electric weapon does not apply to any of the following:
A licensee or an out-of-state licensee. An individual who is not a licensee or out-of-state licensee who transports an
electric weapon if the electric weapon is enclosed within a carrying case.
Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2r). Can I carry an electric weapon concealed if I have a CCW license?
Yes. See above.
Are there other persons who can legally carry an electric weapon?
Yes. In addition to licensees and out-of-state licensees, peace officers, correctional officers and armed forces/national guard personnel while on official duty, manufacturers and sellers to authorized persons and a common carrier may also carry electric weapons. Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2)(a) to (e). -

Same way here in The Great State of Texas, we must give the officer our CDL & CHL.
As for your statement in red. Just remember that when your life is on the line and SECONDS count, the police are only minutes away.
You took the time and money to obtain your CHL, use it. -
