2015 Pete 367 dump truck has a Delphi concert class dae500 radio all fuses are good pulled radio have constant and switched power to radio yet the radio shuts off every hour on the hour and no it doesn’t have a sleep timer on it unless you have to press multiple buttons at the same time to get to that option personally I’m thinking a bad connection or solder joint inside the radio itself does anyone have input on this and does anyone have any knowledge on the internals of the radio ie common places for them to brake the connection inside because they want 500 bucks for a new one and I’m not about to ask my employer to spend that kind of money on a creature comfort if it comes to it I’ll just buy an el cheapo from Walmart and wire it in but I’d like to keep the factory radio works great everything functions as it should other than the hourly shut off

I didn’t know that’s a common thing with these trucks when I try to look it up they say oh well it’s not getting switched ignition power so I got all excited pulled the radio and it has switched and constant power was thinking maybe cause it’s almost 10 years old that it went through enough heat cycles to break a solder joint but I guess not looks like I’ll be heading to Walmart for a dirt cheap radio to throw in it

@D.Tibbitt is right it’s typical Paccar crap. Your truck might have them misplaced since it’s a bit older, but the new ones in the glove box come with 2 little prong tools in a ziploc baggie. You insert these into the 2 little holes on either side of the face of the radio and pull it out. Mine had a loose connection in the back.

I’ve had this same issue with a Pete 579 and again with a Kenworth T880. Both had it in cycles. (Turns off every 60 minutes like clockwork then one day it corrects itself and that lasts a few months then back to turning off on it’s own again).

That removes the face or the radio from the dash? Because I can slide the whole radio outta the dash no problem if that’s what you mean

Is radio shutting off when engine is off or while idling/driving.

If it happens when stopped & ignition switch is in Accesory position, I suspect it's a "battery saver" feature. Here's a link to manual fir the DEA 500 radio.

2022 579 with the same issue.
Turn it on at the radio with the engine running and after 1 hour it turns off. Turn it on with the interface in the sleeper and it stays on all day.
It also goes in cycles for months at a time where it stays on, then back to the hourly shut off.

Mines a factory built dump truck it was wrecked and had a new cab put on it I’m guessing in the wreck it broke something inside the radio because I bought a used aftermarket on marketplace wired it up and it works flawlessly
