Your absolute best bet would be to get your girlfriend to do it with you. Both of you get your license and then team drive. The money is incredible! Took me some time but I finally convinced my wife to get her license and it was the best thing we ever could have done. Not only did we team drive but all the money the truck made went into OUR bank account. Our first year we drove company and the second year we bought a truck. The money we made was unreal! Not only did we make really good money but we had the adventure of a lifetime. The memories far out weigh the pay! After waiting a few months to make sure she was going to like it, we ended up selling the house and a car and put what little belongings we kept in a storage facility. We would stay out for 3-4 months at a time and then come home for a couple weeks staying with relatives or getting a hotel or vacation house on the beach. We saved a lot of money not having any bills and our bank account rapidly grew! Eventually after only about 7 years we bought property and began building our horse training facility. This is what I promised my wife from the beginning and how I talked her into doing it.

I highly suggest you start to work on talking her into it! Got any questions feel free to "pm" me.

    Good luck man...

One thing that you do need to understand is, you will not make much money until after youre first year of driving. And as a new driver you will be kept out for long periods of time. One because you will be with a trainer, two because the company does make better money because they pay you less. Also Florida can be a rough place for freight. Just understand that the reality is you will not earn much your first year and you will most likely spend at least two weeks out at a time.

Like Poundpuppy said in order to make the good money you typically have to stay out for a couple months at a time. As far as local work (especially in Florida) it really doesn't pay. Unless you can get on Fedex or UPS, Budweiser, Coke etc.. Most of those companies have very long lines waiting for an opening.

Man if you can at all talk your girlfriend into driving, that's where the money is! You guys could easily do over $200,000 a year! Plus you wouldn't have any reason to have to come home. When my wife and I drove we stayed out for 3-4 months at a time. This allowed us to really make good money!

I would definately stick with Fedex. You can go through their driver developement program. If it is just you and your girlfriend i would transfer to a terminal that needs more drivers badly and you can move up the board very quickly. You will always have off weekends and holidays and won't ever have to worry about being stuck out on the road for weeks at a time.

    CCJR76 Thanks this.
