Hello ya'll, I have a dilemma here. I have two options that I am facing. I am looking at Schneider OTR or Maverick's Temperature Control Division. Let me give ya'll a little background of myself. I am 22,

single, no kids, no house payment, one car payment. I am currently in the United States Army as a Truck Driver. I have 5 months till I get out. I am planning to get my CDL. Both Schneider and Maverick look

like great companies. My issue with Schneider is that the recruiter told me that it would be up to my supervisor if I can take my truck home. I can not afford to drive from Memphis, TN to Dyersburg, TN (75

miles north of Memphis) every hometime I get. Maverick told me that I could bring my truck home but with a empty trailer or a load. Also the recruiter for Schneider gave me the run around when I asked

questions about OTR. When I contacted Maverick about my questions they answered straight forward. I do not want to start out flat bedding. With Schneider they haul dry vans and Maverick haul reefers.

With Mavericks TCD it would seem that I would be sitting a lot at meat houses waiting for loads. Also I have heard about receivers not accepting loads because they thought the frozen product was no

good. I just would like to get some of ya'lls opinions about these two companies.

    Thank you,

    Jeremiah

i drive 90 miles to home. every weekend.

sometimes my unload and reload are around the house though. OR i'm going by the house so i'll take the truck home. but most times it's parked at the yard.

truck parking isn't allowed in my township of the big city so i have to park it 3/4 miles away at the next township and walk home.

Go with Maverick. Does Maverick have those meat accounts? If so, do they pay detention pay while waiting for loading? Receivers routinely try to reject refrigerated loads; they are corrupt and are trying to get a discount on the load. Doesn't affect you, unless you're an Owner/Operator. Take another look at Mavericks flatbed division; easy money.

@china, I know that they pay like $15 hr after 2 hours. with the refusal, wouldn't that mean that you have to file paperwork for that? I know flat bedding is alot of work, I am not lookin to start out flatbedding
