A buddy of mine had a heart attack in a mill in Heath, Oh few months ago while un-chaining his load. He got rushed to the hospital and then lifelined down to Columbus where he underwent a 5-way bypass and has CHF and Diabetes. He is now back on the road and trucking. Still pulling a flatbed. So yes you can get recertified for a physical.

You can read this trips. It's from the DOT Medical Experts Panel and covers all cardiovascular problems and their recommendations on certification.

I just wrote you a 5000 word story and copied it to go retrieve that link and doh, lost it! :biggrin_25516:

Long story short I understand your position from the health problems my family history and trucking brought me. It's not one thing but a chain of events that you have to break. One health problem leads to another. Staying on the road makes it just that much harder to improve as it's part of the problem. It's a long haul back to change your health. Doing it is not as hard as starting to do it. As you improve your physical health your mental health will improve too. With your mental health returned comes a better quality of life. So don't think it's a lost cause. Think of it as a challenge and the amazing things a brain can do.

You might not live to 85 but with the right decisions you can buy yourself 15 years. You stay on the current path you'll be dead by 50. 65 sounds a whole lot better. Who knows with all the medical advances lately? But it starts with you and that first step.

"UPDATE" since my first crabastic post on here ive dropped 100lbs and have completly changed my diet and even attitude. im hoping at this point i can start exercising and get my legs back in shape. Im feeling pretty good these days but im going to take another month or two or atleast untill my short term runs out. Eating heart healthy foods and the right meds have turned me around and i think i've got a gameplan to continue with the diet on the road so we will see, ofcourse hopefully my employer will take me back but im sure they will. thanks for the info.....
