connex 330hp help

ok guys went and got myself a connex 3300hp that's been worked on ..suppose to have about 60 watts any way I got a new Wilson 2000 ant. and new coax at the same time...I got the radio in works great at times.. I never had a radio like this with all the button and knobs...so please guide me in setting this cb..I can pick up close but not far away..if I do turn a knobs where I can hear and talk it has a bunch of static and other people talking far off but nobody can here where I am...also right now I have a cobra mic with the knob for the echo.. but plan to get a road king 56 for it.. please explain the buttons and knobs and what I need to try.. I am out of town and not close to home where the shop is I got it from..thanks for any help
