The OP makes it sound like the majority are out here due to economic reasons. I would think, maybe wrongly, that most are here because they want to be out here, or, like me, it is a family tradition.

You are correct 100%,,,,,,, BUT this is the job that we choose, either by choice or,,,, by the fact that........ their,,, (ain't) no other jobs were. anygiven person lives. And weather it comes down to bringing home $275.00 week working at minimum wage job, and trying to feed and house and provide some kind of DECENT life for a family, well i guess all the other does not seem so bad. BUT i could be wrong With all that said, I know that their are lot of other factors that come into play, but i think that my statement fits into a LOT of situations. Those who get into the business just because they think it's COOL or "it's the perfect on my OWN" kinda life. their are the kind of folkS, who "SPEAK BEFORE THEY THINK AND ALWAYS REGRET WHAT THEY SAY'. It's a job, It's a lifestyle..... anyone can add to this post,,,,,,,,,,,,, some might disagree........
GOOD LUCK>>>>>>>>>>Everett Thanks this. -
Funny, I like sitting on my butt and looking out the window everyday. For me...... Its my life. I do not like working alongside other people. Being alone is perfectly fine with me and I enjoy it. Even when I go home and go fishing. I would rather sit in that boat alone. So there are a crazy few of us that Love this job.
NSBGearjammer, Everett, JIMS2006C6 and 10 others Thank this. -
I agree with this guy it's not a lifestyle it's a job. Trust me if I could find another job right now that pays me what I make now I would probably turn my keys in. I would even consider dispatcher or something. Maybe even safety director. Or even cdl driving school instructor.TheHealthyDriver, BlackLions and Red Hot Mess Thank this.

I have received so much grief for having my sig line say what it does!!! (read below)
I'm so glad other people feel the same way I do!!Fatboy42, BlackLions and Red Hot Mess Thank this. -
Myself? I have been reading these forums for about two months. And I wouldn't have fallen for the lines that first guy was saying.
The only reason I am going to start trucking school (next week)? Is that the state is going to pay for it. The only thing that I have to worry about is finding a good motel in Indy that doesen't charge an arm or a leg. Or have bugs that will eat your arms and legs off while your sleeping.
Why am I going to truck driving school? Obtaining a CDL being able to work in a company and if they need an extra driver. People going on vacation ect. Fill in for them. (Also the Department of homeland security clearance will look good on a resume).
When ever anyone advances themself, they think they are going to die. Getting out of their little comfort zone, taking on a new challenge. Any truck driver should be able to tell you he knows what this means,,, at least in my opion. -
I can't see what it says in my phone what does it say?

TRUCKING IS NOT A LIFESTYLE!! IT'S A JOB!!!

I'll never hang up the keys. I am at my best trucking. Started this industry with nothing, except desire. Own my truck and trailer free and clear out here chasing after the rate, free market trucking. Sometimes it sucks. Sometimes I have to sit on my hands to keep from waving at everybody it's so exciting lol. Would never, ever truck if I didn't have a passion.for it.. hard way to make a living...Red Hot Mess and Truck609 Thank this.

Hell yeah if they paid landscapers in my area 20-22 hr I would do it. instead I think the guys who do it might make minimum wage.
