That post on using Do Not Disturb is right on, you need to protect your sleep time like a momma bear, they can ask questions during your paid hours.
Far as the other drivers, I'd do my normal day's work, starting from when the truck is available. I don't know the culture there, but texting dispatch each day when truck is available would be a way to let them track times/dates and see for themselves who the selfish drivers are. I know there are elogs, but the texts might be more plain about who is being a hog.
Crude drivers always seemed like the top layer to me as well. After I started talking to them it's what I wanted to do, they're on their own and self-reliant and make bank. But at the time the companies I knew of needed 2 years exp to even apply.

I'd like to ask a touchy question here.
I just got paid. My past paycheck. They sent me a statement of earnings. Basically listing my runs. Told it was so I could review my runs. Let them know if anything is incorrect.
This paycheck. I received no statement of earnings. Asked... Reply was that she was out of the office and didn't get it done. Still haven't received any statement of earnings. Received my paycheck today. Much less than I expected. ????
Should I expect this to be pulled on me? -
At first the deposits I was getting made it seem okay, then it dragged on and on and the deposits seemed almost random. So I left and was clear about why.
The owner asked me to come back, saying it was fixed. Because I'd been away, they owed me for one load next pay period, but I got no deposit on payday. That's when I packed up and left for good.
I guarantee that they didn't miss billing for my loads, but likely they underbid and needed to make something back and took it out of my hide.
We need to make wage theft a hanging offense in this country, no excuse for it. And to add to it, the state that company was based in would not help me because the work was done in another state.WesternPlains Thanks this. -

I left Oil Field. It was just too screwed up. Don't want to get into details. Just everything. Also knew it was just a matter of time till I got in trouble with DOT.
I do want to say that we did have some very good people. Had one who would work part time dispatching. He would set me up with some of the greatest nights. I could see at the start that I could definitely get 4 loads that night. He would do things like setting the one load out west first. We were on the west side to begin with. Very thoughtful dispatching. He helped me get up to speed on loads. I asked him about pay. Later talking on the phone he asked. I told him: We started at $2K... ended with $3k on my check. He said: Geesh! I thought it was only something like ten bucks! I do want to thank people like him. There were many.
I'm now hauling cement powder in a pneumatic tanker regionally. Home daily. Great job. Working for an O/O. I do a good amount of hauling to Oil Field. Just did one to Halliburton in ND. Seems like a good operation.Last edited: Sep 30, 2019
