Sorry about the double post, but I just read through all the comments dis regard those last two messages. The recruiter told me it was 43cpm reefer 2200 to 2900 miles. He said that .43 was the base nothing included, so I am confused I read here that they do include per deim.

Per diem is not in addition to your ¢43. All per diem is an amount of your pay that us not taxed. Most people that work in a field that has shifts are use to per diem being extra pay on top of there base pay.

So at Prime, they take ¢10/mile out of your ¢43/mile as per diem. That ¢10/mile doesn't have taxes, social insecurity, or medicare taken out. The reason it is done like that instead of you claiming it in your taxes at the end of the year is so you get a bigger take home check each week and most people don't itemize on there taxes to claim the per diem.

Ok, instructor/trainer here. Tired of this misinformation.

First of all, upgrading does not mean to lease. Upgrading means to move to A seat, get your own truck and go solo. Whether that is a lease or not is entirely up to the guy upgrading. He'll sit through some classes, then do the same CBTs all over again, then get into a truck.

As for the pay, yes, the base pay is 38cpm. It shows as 32cpm because the other 6cpm is untaxed and is listed under the per diem section of the payroll summary. We also have a 5cpm lightweight bonus, 5cpm northeast regional bonus, and up to 6cpm fuel bonus; I usually got about 4.5cpm bonus on fuel weekly when I was a company driver.
