Have had Verizon for years. We switched to them from AT&T after we could not get a signal in Enid, OK, where we were consulting at the time. We shopped around and got Verizon to promise us, in writing no less, that we would get a signal in Enid. Next trip, we had coverage. That said only on the beaten track in Alaska will you get coverage LOL

I have Verizon. it works almost everywhere .

You seem to miss the entire point. -

- Assuming part of the plan without KNOWING what the plan is...
- Being in a rush...
- Too tired to see straight...
- Thick as a brick...
- Bullrushing the lil' ol' lady at the shipping desk into loading the wrong load on a trailer (happened to me, except it was my load the jerk took off with)...
- The brainiacs in sales don't have a clue...
- Don't really check the trailer number...
- Cold storage lumpers have brain freeze...
- Shipping clerk left brain at home...
- Hook onto the wrong carriers trailer (TransAM pulled a Swift 300 miles!)...
- A last check to make sure you understand hi-val or hazmat procedures...
- A check to make sure we aren't doing something illegal with hazmat...
This isn't "rocket science," but the list of possible screw-ups is endless. So after the umpteenth Prime driver pulled the wrong trailer over 400 miles in the wrong direction about four years ago, they plugged in the live loaded calls as a way to improve our service. It felt rather... belittling... at the time, but its a way to short-circuit stupidity. Most of the time.
We don't have a product to sell. Just service. If we can't manage to offer superior service, which is something we charge for, our competitors (you know, the bozo's we are always laughing about?) will eat our lunch. And dinner.Traveler51 Thanks this. -
I agree 100% IP. But what are live load calls?
-
Well, since you guys are always grillin', chillin' and basically goofing-off...
In a really fast-paced freight environment like REAL reefer freight, we call (you know... that antiquated device you talk into to someone far away?) into a separate dispatch office to check that EVERYTHING is correctomundo before we commit to something stupid. That's why we have to have reliable cell service, BTW.
Sounds like you guys could use a healthy dose of this medicine. -
LOL I did several of those before I switched over to the working division
We dont do live load calls over here. I have had a load where even the bills didnt know where it was goin.... But that was the nearest town.
