Then it's a good thing you don't live in our house, isn't it. And it's semantics. You are assuming and reading things into a situation that just aren't there. YOU decided YOU can't leave out until your kids are grown and gone. NEWSFLASH: they never are. Sometimes life's circumstances throw them back into your home when they are married with children of their own. Trust me, I know. What's mine is his, what's his is mine. So, when I say MY kids...that does mean OUR kids. That's the deal we made when we said "I do."

You just can't get your head around the fact that we are not only making it, but stronger. I get that. In your world, what we have accomplished is impossible. He's been home for birthdays. For meets. For Christmas. For devastating blows. He's an OTR driver, and hasn't missed any of the important stuff. It IS possible. And it IS possible at a "mega carrier." You just have to 1. understand the system and 2. make that system work for you. We do, and we did. Then again, our number one priority is communication. If that isn't working, we communicate some more. When that fails? Guess what, keep communicating.

Our relationship is unique and special. And we treat it that way, we don't take it for granted. We work on it DAILY. No matter where he is. No matter where I am. We don't wander through our lives hoping something will happen. We make it happen. Since we met, we've always said that we are one person in two bodies. It's just the way it is.

The guy is a "wannabe" making comments from the sideline. Ignore him. He's not even in the game and thinks he knows what he is talking about.

Some of us know how you are or were literally a virtual co-driver for your husband as he was getting off the ground in his first few months of trucking... checking roads, getting directions, trip planning.

You don't have to be in the truck every moment to work as a team, and you don't have to be home with the family to work as a solid team.

I would rather train in the summer time. No standing outside in the freezing cold or inspecting the truck and trailer with snow on the ground, the sun sets latter in the evening so its easier to see the traffic. Believe me, as a newby, driving in the dark and seeing the glare of all the headlights especially if its raining, snowing or sleeting causes the headlights to refract (scatter, breakup the light) off the windshield and also the reflection of the headlights off the wet pavement together with the wipers smearing the drops across the glass all together is scary for the first time. Once you do get your CDL and go on the road, the winter will come gradually and in time you will be getting more and more experienced until the day of the first major snow fall. By then you will have mastered the shifting, you will already know how the rig handles, you would be comfortable driving the truck by then and a heavy snow would not have such a big impact on your driving ability.

You make a good point. I'm coming to Prime this summer. My ONE BIG FEAR is driving in winter conditions. Here in NC we rarely get much in the way of winter weather.
I figure I'll adapt or die. lol

    I've chosen Prime because:
    - Best training program
    - Best pay during training
    - Best equipment for new drivers
    - Lowest cost for training -- FREE if I stay one full year, which I would do anyway no matter how horrible things may get
    - Prime will allow my wife and dog to ride with me once I get my own truck
    - Good training opportunity for my wife so, eventually we could drive team
    - Lease amount of negative reviews for a "starter" company
    - Company health insurance

I will be a company driver for starts since the most complaints about Prime come from drivers who blindly and maybe stupidly
got into a lease. For me, leasing is a way to dig myself into a deeper hole than I'm in already.

I realize that attending a driving school is considered the best rout but...
    - I don't have the money to pay for a school
    - Don't have the time to go 4-6 weeks without pay while in a school
    - Why should I go $2,500 - $4,000 in the hole when I can get all I need at Prime

I don't have any grand illusions about "being on the road", etc.
At my age, I need to work and generate income. There are few and far between opprortunities for men in my age group.

I indend to be a good, safe driver. Period.

    Hope this helps.
