I drive 70mph(Speed limit in Texas) with a truck governed at 71mph grossed out at 83,500 and average 6-6.5mph. I drove for a company OTR their trucks were governed at 60mph without a problem and lucky if they got 5.5-5.75 out of their trucks. I know the greatest expense for a trucking company is their fuel expense. I travel on US 54 in the Texas Panhandle between Dalhart and Stratford and see all the CRST, Swift, ABF, FedEx, and some other governed carriers(slower than the posted speed limit) and the majority of the time they have anywhere from 5-10 vehicles behind them and don't have the courtesy to move halfway on the shoulder(which is not illegal in the state of Texas) to let that big truck or four wheeler that is tailing gating them around. Myself even at the posted speed limit get passed and if there is a line of traffic behind me I slow down and let em all pass when it's safe to instead of them trying to pass going up a hill or curve...etc...so when it comes down to it I rather be able to drive the posted speed limit in whatever state I am in and get a few more miles down the road and home a lil quicker(which mileage don't matter where I work cause we get paid by the load not the mile). If I ever drove for a slow company again I would still have the courtesy to allow someone to pass me that wanted too..I'm not passing judgement on any of the drivers on this form just stating my opinion...

Wasn't planning on it. Why would I leave a company and take a pay cut. All I did is state my opinion about Prime Inc and you come back with that smarta** remark. There is other companies where a new guy can go and drive and make more money and from my experience the smaller the companies the better they treat you and the more money you make. The sad thing is people starting off look toward the big companies to run with. When I took my first OTR job with 9 months experience total I started .30cpm with a smaller company. I looked for a month and researched every company I found that offered the best for the driver with the experience I had. Now with right at four years experience I don't drive much over 500 miles a night and make min. $250 a night six times a week and don't work much over 11 hours total and home every night. So when it comes down Open Road Dreamer you are right good for me. Good for you that you're with a company you like.

So you know how it is to drive for Prime even though you've never driven for them. Amazing
