Do the flatbeds get better fuel mileage than the reefers?

Mine doesnt. Loads are too unaerodynamic for me to get good mileage.

My trk has the DD13 in it and it gets 5.5mpg grossed out at 83,500 and we deadhead half the miles we drive. Best fuel mileage truck I drove was a 2009 Peterbilt 386 with a Cummings ISX in it. I would drive right at 3300 miles a week in it and she averaged right at 7 pulling a reefer. She was a beast pulling the hills in Missouri.

How was the Jake brake or "c" brake on that isx? Does it hold back a grossed truck going through hills and mountains?
