It did alright. Not as good as the cat and jake does but it would for the most part hold it back pretty good. I never drove that trk in the mountains just through the hills in Missouri. Ran from Clovis, NM to Waupun, WI over to Chicago than back to Albuquerque.

Oh 10-4. My Maxxforce engine brake only works best fully loaded in 6th gear or less on a 5% grade lol. I nearly smoked my brakes the first time I went down i24 in Tennessee. My Detroit held me back, this maxxforce sucks on long grades

Lol..I know the feeling. I drove a 2005 Freightliner Columbia with a Mercedes in it and all it had was a engine retarder(useless loaded) that wouldn't slow the trk down on flat much less steep grades. So I was headed to Tempe, az and looked at the map and cut down in Winslow on 87 to save time instead of going through flagstaff and ended up adding 2.5hrs and that road had so many 7%(2-4 if I remember correctly) grades and s-curves on it and finally had to stop to let the brakes cool 3x took most of them in 5th with the retarder on. So needless to say I will never take that rd unless I have a real jake lol

Well, that makes sense. As far as I'm concerned TX should be named big sky country, that's all you can see.

Definitely lots of open sky. If the cost of living was cheaper in the mountains I would move but it's cheap in the panhandle and the economy is still really good around here. Worst thing here is the wind it March, April, and May averages above 14.5mph.

My DD15 will do a decent job at slowing me down. Ive gone down Monteagle fully loaded, and it did pretty good. All I can ever think about, is the opening to Smokey & the Bandit.
