I rode out yesterday with the guy currently doing my route, was supposed to go today too, but Im hackin up a storm...had to call and bail out. Although I might go and look over my tractor today, sitting at the diesel shop and he was bored one day, cleaned it all out totally on the inside. 06 with sleeper. 183k miles. woot! Not sure when Ill actually be able to drive it however, as my CDL test is next week and then that will be weird as it will be almost a week since I last drove. Don't want to be rusty for the test. Stupid Buttonhook turns!

Schneider's pre-work screen doesn't check your blood pressure it tests your heartrate after every exercise. If you go over the criteria of (220 - age X .9) your out, which is a good thing since if you are going over you're a heart attack waiting to happen. Has nothing to do with Blood pressure. I got hired, went through all my training and NOT ONCE was my blood pressure ever taken.

Also everything my recruiter told me has been 100% true including my rate of pay. Not sure if they are any different out on the east coast, as I went to Fontana for my training but I have yet to find anything at all that the recruiter told me that hasn't been true.

I too just failed the Schneider prephysical. My husband has been a Schneider driver for a year and we were going to become a team. I am 46 years old and in good physical shape. I just happened to have a really bad cold...lots of coughing....stuffed up nose....the works. I informed my recruiter of this and asked if there would be any problem and maybe I should delay starting up....especially since I could be rooming with someone else. She said that it was no big deal...and that I should have no problem since the first few days were all paperwork. When I went in for the test I had to remove my cough drop(chocking hazard). Before I could finish I was coughing and having a hard time breathing. My husband stopped in Greenbay and was told that a cold should have nothing to do with elevated heart rate. He ask them to review the pretest and try taking it with a rag stuck down your throat, and see if your heart rate rises. I know this is a new program that Schneider has started but they should really educate their recruiters. Also, they have everyone go to lunch immediately prior to taking the test....which really doesn't make a lot of since to me either. As for it being a prewarning for a heart attack....Schneider maybe should require a REAL physical from a REAL doctor instead of this little game that they have started.
It is all gonna work out ok for us. My husband has been a great driver...no accidents...never late for a load...so we are going elsewhere. He was gonna stick it out with Schneider so that I could train.
As for the accomodations....they really are pretty bad....was not looking forward to spending 3 weeks there either.

Lol, nice first post. Do tell how they lie. And using a quote about a truck company having a lot of trucks doesnt help much.

    Zig,
I have to agree with you on your skepticism regarding Mom and Dad's posts. Even before I got to your post I was thinking M & D's posts were riddled with b.s. Blood pressure is not checked during the pre-work physical test so that would make it impossible for Mom to be booted for elevated BP. Also, that test is incredibly easy. If someone can't pass that then they have bigger problems to deal with besides being rejected by SNI. A lifestyle change is definitely needed.

As far as everything the recruiter told them as being a lie. Really? Every word out of the recruiter's mouth was a lie? Sorry. Don't believe it.

Seems like every time I read a post about the big, bad trucking companies getting rid of drivers it's ALWAYS the company's fault. The fired employee or rejected applicant never take responsibility. :biggrin_25513:

everything in this post is pretty much right on out here in the southern california area. for a second i thought we had the same DBL. the only thing that i liked about the company was the operation centers/points.

I'm not even a driver and I would say Schneider sucks! I couldn't even land a job with them and I feel like I got stabbed in the back by them after my interview! Apparently, they didn't even have the decency to tell me I wasn't getting a job with them UNTIL I get a generic e-mail today from them. Keep in mind, NOTHING in the interview gave me any indication that I wasn't going to get a job with them! I guess their word don't mean #### unless you're a customer

Argh, I was typing something sarcastic...gotta bite my lip.

Their interview is in two parts from what I have seen. For me, when they offered me a job (sort of locking me in) over the phone, I said yes and answered some general questions and set up an interview for two days later and had a more in-depth interview then at that time. After everything was done with that, she offered me the job (more official version) and then tossed me over to a gal in the medical section of Schneider who asked me some medical questions. When that was done, she took a few days and set up a weewee test and a DOT physical.

From what it sounds like, something you answered wasn't what they wanted because they don't even do the background, drivers record, work history, and reference checks until a few days before you are set to start with them.

Maybe you could call back and ask what happened, what they didn't like, because that could be a red flag for other companies too.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not, but the position I was being considered for was an office position, not a driver position. Prior to the interview, I looked at how the company treats their drivers or what they offer them because I felt that I would need to be aware of it.
