I honestly don't remember my gross totals...but what I CAN tell you is that in most of my calculations come tax time, my take-home figured up to roughly about 54% of my gross. Re: central VA...assuming you're anywhere near Lynchburg, IF TMC still has the account, what was once known as Griffin Pipe, now US Pipe, has a big operation there. Pretty much right down the street is Rock Tenn paper...I never noticed a shortage of loads out of those places. Central VA...you'll probably have a lot of lumber loads, but home time shouldn't be much of an issue for you, depending on how far off I-95 you are (and on which side). I can't speak much to northern VA or much else of central VA, but I so recall doing a lot of running around southern VA during my time with TMC--a little TOO much, actually. (Those roads are just not too truck-friendly through there, especially US-460...ugh.) But there's definitely stuff around there, into NC (lots of shingles and distribution centers--and more wood), SC maybe, MD and if I had to guess, PA as well would probably be your primary zone.
I live in NC my gross earnings are any where between 1200-1900 weekly. 1200 solo and closer to 2000 wih a trainee
I actually live in North East, MD near the DE border, so I am assuming I will be running more north and south.
About that Frederick deal...that account stays filled up, but it's always worth it to keep checking into. It's for Tamko Roofing Products, and it's mostly roof shingles. Easy stuff, no tarp, 9 or 11 straps plus the x across the front...but they also pull a lot of double-stacked rolled roofing paper, as well...the load NO ONE wants. They also tend to load HEAVY, and TMC will "strongly urge" drivers not to fuel up before going in there. (Because of the scales.) I know exactly where North East is...you'd probably find yourself running mostly up and down I-95 (thank goodness TMC has EZPass!), but you shouldnt have a problem at all with steady freight, not with all those ports in close proximity. And many of those short-haul loads tend to pay better per load than the same would in the Midwest and/or south (like shingles...I remember running one load of shingles from Owens Cor in in Medina OH (about an hour or so south of Cleveland) to NJ (I think it was Kearney--Owens Corning has a plant up there too, pretty much right up near the GW bridge)...roughly about 350 or so miles, something like that, paid $762 to the truck. That same load in the Midwest might've fetched $620 or so. (The only reason I remember that is because that's what started my $6000 week I told you about a page or two back.) That's just one example.
Absolutely. Pretty much the whole midwest but especially the five-state area of OH, IN, IL, KY, and (southern) MI. Being that close to I-65, I-75 and I-70, yeah you'll be a-ok.
