When your parked at a truck stop watch how the open decks are backing and turning in the lots. Backing a 48000 lumber load into a spot takes a little more setup with spread axels then a set of tandems.

Thank you classicst for the specifics, that’s really helpful. Parking up by 9 pm on Sunday shouldn’t be too much of an issue I would think, however just getting used to everything may take a bit to become proficient.

Highway Sailor, I have been trying to catch a flatbed backing in, but only saw one guy who backed in at a TS using a 45° which is what I sometimes do. I’ll check out some YouTube videos.

Guys, I have a question about parking up at the customer on Sunday nights.

How close do you need to park up? Do the customers allow you to park on their property? Was just curious how that worked. Thanks!

Most customers will let you park overnight. Your Qualcomm may have a notation on the notes or your fm ( fleet manager) should be able to find out for you. If you can't park on location get as close as you can being legal and in a safe area. When your with your trainer he/ she should be teaching you proper time management with your elog.

Thanks Highway, that helps a lot.

Sitting at the Flying J tonight, I watched a Maverick driver back in beside me. He set up a lot further out than I need to with my tandems.

Ya, that seem to be the norm. Alot if truck stops have narrow lanes between the rows of parking which can be an issue with a spread axels.

Did you say you were accepted with TMC or just thinking about them?

I was accepted to go to TMC, however I have been blessed with a kidney stone that I need to get taken care of; don’t want to start anything else till it’s all cleared up. It came up right after submitting my application. I have communicated everything with my recruiter and I’m just waiting to see what the doctor says here in a few weeks.

Once this is all taken care of, I’ll get an orientation date set up; really looking forward to it.

Good deal, you should do fine there. I agree take care of that stone first. Life can be hell with them. I have never had to experience one of those however, when I was a younger man in construction one of my bosses had one or several. Just awful. Unless treating them has changed since then. Best of luck to ya.

Careful with TMC man, I had a real bad experience with them that I wrote about on here. Consider them VERY carefully
