I say this. TALK to the Werner Driver in the Petro, TA or some such, buy them coffee or something and ask them particularly about the truck that is parked there and show you the things you are concerned about. Recruiters seek out fresh meat. And they will lie and sell the Devil on a stack of burnt bibles to get you to sign on. Werner is not the end all be all company out there. As far as I am concerned, it is my CDL, my well being and necessary to run that truck 24/7 to avoid problems with food storage, hotel BS and be able to endure bad heat and cold that is possible out there without trouble. Engine off and opti this opti or pro that is all babbly bs designed to bamboozle and befuddle stupid fleet buyers unaware of what YOU the driver require. //RANT....
2 reasons: 1. They don't have to put forth any effort in their career. 2. That sunshine injection in the arse from the recruiter was invigorating. Tickled too. And of course, 2 months later, they complain about their arse is sore from all the pounding they took and whether or not they will lose their CDL if they flee. You can warn the kids about pedophiles until you're blue in the face. "But it's FREE CANDY, Six...you don't understand." You're right I don't. I don't want any free candy. Enjoy the buttsex.
Take air freshener on your training truck isn't there a great thread about a Werner trainer crapping his pants
Why not go to Prime? I think all of their trucks have APUs and inverters as standard equipment in them.
Wherever you work you will be earning 3-4 grand a month. What's your loan payment for cdl school? Tuition Reimbursement will repay the majority of your school loan what it doesn't cover your wages will. You will hate this job fast if you can only idle when it's hot or cold. Don't volunteer to suffer like that. And don't tell the rest of us you have to start somewhere. You choose where you start, you choose what happens next.
Leaving them with 1 month experience & a loan payable the day you quit isn't as easy as you think. Never work for a company until you talk to current dtivers there. If they want you they will put you in touch with several.
Whoever told you national fleet doesn't do the Dollar accounts lied to you. Shocking, I know! National fleet gets to "fill in" for Dollar account drivers when the dedicated drivers get hurt too badly to work (a very frequent occurrence). And you run the risk of getting stuck on Dollar fleet if they can't sucker enough drivers to volunteer.
God forbid you started trucking 40 years ago and the "luxurious" sleeper was a 36" coffin bunk rather than the piece of plywood you laid across the seats in a daycab. They make these things called "inveters" that create household power off of a 12-volt system. And you can buy a plug-in cooler and lunchbox stove for your refrigerator/oven needs. If you didn't want to live in "squalor" maybe you should have considered another career path.
