Peterbilt/Kenworth figured out all the tricks. Ive gotten the RPM's up to 950, tried setting the high idle, wedging the brake pedal, leaving the tractor brakes off with only the trailer set and nothing overrides the 5 minute shut down.

Had a bad battery and was going into low voltage alarms when I was trying to sleep and I tried everything to get it to idle until I could get it replaced lol

    On the cruise control?

I'm telling you, the manual override to engine shutdown is throttle compression - wedge the gas (diesel) pedal.

I sat there one night and held my foot on the throttle raising the RPM to 950 from my normal 700ish idle and it still shuts down after 5 minutes.

High idle by using the cruise control has been disabled.

Can override the shut down by pressing the brake. But it needs to see both a press and a release. Tried wedging down the brake pedal and it didn't work either.

Now do you think this is so the company can penny-pinch, or is it to be in compliance with individual States idle laws?

Your Espar better run top notch if you can't idle. (My Werner work was w. a '16 Freightliner Cascadia.)

It’s just for your first year. Get your time in then you can move where ever you want.

People out on the driving range think they are being yelled at because the instructors yell. Your voice has to carry over those Diesel engines. They aren’t yelling AT you, they are just yelling. Lol

Is it me or is it really something wrong with some of these new drivers?

Making career decisions on things like idling or Dollar General or a bunch of other things seems to indicate that we need harder licensing testing and real world training.

people who worry about idling needs to think if the company would really allow their drivers to sleep without ac in 80+ temps

well 80 plus isn't all that bad, did it a lot when I was on the road in a truck without A/C.

These people expect room service too?

Someone keeps breaking into my dorm and making my bed. Creeps me out every night I go to it. I never make my bed. Now it magically happens. Actually don’t like it. Feels like I’m sleeping in a caccoon. They always have to tuck the blanket under the mattress and ####.
