Never ever ever have a contract with one broker for exclusive use of your truck, never.

Non-compete doesn't mean you can't haul for a shipper, we've broken two contracts with that clause in it when the company solicited us for a detracted carrier to haul their product. The two brokers made the claim that we were competing with them by brokering our own loads but the referee said that we were not brokers but the service providers that do the exact job that the brokers can't do.

From that point on, when we see the clause in a brokers contract it gets crossed out and initialed.

90% of the "fun" of this is never running the same thing twice and never seeing the same scenery.

I would not be happy with one broker unless he/she was very diverse and very connected.
