I am considering starting my career at Conway cause they fit a lot of my needs. They have a 4 week school and allow my lab to come along which is big for me. I am worried about not having an apu and I was wondering what drivers experience at conway is with the idle policy? I can't stand to be hot and can't sleep if I am hot. Cold I can handle and I know they have bunk heaters. I called them and they said just be reasonable and stay above a certain mpg. So what is your experience with conways idle policy?

Official policy was don't idle between 20 & 70 -- but saw plenty of people idling when it was 60. Some of their new trucks have opti-idle where it turns on/off as needed to maintain a temperature in the sleeper.

FInd a company with APUs..check out a private carrier called Letica,,nice trucks, APUs and 46cnts/mile all 100% no touch.
theyare out of Mich.. -
Didn't know some of the new trucks have opti idle that's good. I hope it's not to strict I just can't be hot while trying to sleep and I don't want to drive tired cause I couldn't idle my truck last night and couldnt sleep.

I would post this question in the Conway forum. May get more responses.

I was with them for 1 year and they never once called me to complain about my idle time... Obviously if it was 50 out my truck was off... Like they will tell you in orientation when your out of the truck like at the fuel island, getting bills signed at shipper/receiver ect ect shut the truck off...
You should be fine -
Sounds good. Sounds like I shouldn't have to big of an issue. I will probably need to idle a little more than most cause I will have my dog with me but they take a 1cpm decrease in pay cause of that so shouldn't be in issue it sounds like.

Sounds reasonable.
