After changing oil and water pump that was leaking, I started losing 1 quart of coolant a day. Do not see any leaks. Lots more if the usual backfiring while letting off accelerator.
Also the oil filter caps have s oil film on them that seemed to spray up. But no leaks I can see. No drips on ground of any fluids.
Pic of new water pump. Red dot sshows where a small drop of coolant is sitting that appears to have leaked from flange of pump not the drop hole.
This just happened along with the run down front of engine while I idled truck a few minutes.
When I installed pump I put Vasoline on one ring.
As far as oil film, I may have cracked small cap when tightening it. I heard a noise.

Problem solved. Well almost.
Stopped losing a lot of coolant. Don't know why.
But I just found a leak on back if engine. Probably blowing away when driving so I did not notice it before. Can't tell where it is coming from tight now but I will be finding it when it gets daylight. -
You might find another of those dreaded plastic quick connect fittings back there. Remember when I said to change them all?
Rideandrepair, spsauerland and markk Thank this. -
I changed two. Is there more?
I thought maybe one of the hoses. They had to splice them hoses together to make longer so now 4 hose clamps.
Couldn't get under there far enough to see but it is coming from driver side on top of transmission housing -
Depends on the chassis. Yes there may be another one back there. PITA to access- thru shifter hole is best- but very tight behind the engine with the air cleaner out.
Rideandrepair, markk and spsauerland Thank this. -
Most ones I do are in chassis with short hood "MX optimized" and automatic transmission, so access is less than desirable. KW does have a option now to install a shifter cover with no hole for top PTO access. Parts guy requested retrofit for me, but they so far have declined to give out P/N. My regional parts manager is working on it for us now.
Rideandrepair, markk and Goodysnap Thank this. -
I have two drips so I think it is them hoses. I just loosened up coolant cap to let off pressure. Stopped the dripping.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Another common spot is the coolant hose/clamps going to the trans heat exchanger. Top of the trans toward the passenger side.
Rideandrepair, markk and spsauerland Thank this. -
Replaced quite a few transmission heat exchangers that were leaking from end plate too.
Rideandrepair and markk Thank this. -
Well as it turns out it was just a clamp on hose where mechanic put in new upgrade brass fitting. Was real loose.
I pulled plate under shifter and tightened it up.
Problem solved.
Now on to them non working blend doors. Well think I'll turn that over to repair shop.Rideandrepair and spsauerland Thank this.
