Coolant sign and hidden camera

Reckon if manufacturers can update and diagnose vehicles remotely, they could certainly derate or manipulate one on the fly, or certainly while idling or turned on. As far as using coolant its just crap manufacturing, but you'll have to take that one dry until its obvious. Personally I think telematics marketed as performance based results, is code for warranty control. Or lack of warranty as the driver most likely will be deemed at fault as they are the easiest to blame due to position and finances to argue otherwise. Manufacturers have become like junkies around penny pinching every cent in the Companies pursuit of profits. Crap manufacturing gets fobbed of as commercial stresses unless its plain as day poor manufacturing. Even then as I have recently discovered, 8 out of 6 air bags supplied by Paccar have leaked in less than 12 months, do they care, Na commercial stress. The originals lasted 13 years. Telematics now allows them to track everything that truck does and provide evidence the driver has "supposedly" mistreated it making way for a newer version of no warranty. Then chuck in the juga naught the safety industry has become with the extorsion of personal space/rights via cameras spying on you all in the name of safety. Your eyes, your face, your attention, your driving style backed up with telematics that seemingly ignores other road users and conditions. You don't see cameras in professional office environments monitoring the behavior of CEO's, upper management, or office staff. Plenty of the shop floor, lunch room, and workers car park though. Its just BS. If you don't become a robot you will be replaced by one.

I admit I'm a bit of a cup half empty guy, but its already unfolding. I read in BMW forums some manufacturers have been selling driver data to insurance companies already. I imagine employers will also be interested in such data. And to think all you did was buy product from a company. The thing is as the owner, "you" gets no say in what where and how that data is used. Just check the box you agree to continue if you want the product. Same with the job.

Its markets as good. Police have seized Tesla's for their camera data collection. But if that's your car, or the car is watching your every move, who's is it to sell or keep.

 

Those manufacturers are digging their own graves. That data is going to be used to train autonomous vehicles, and part of the business model behind those is making individual ownership of cars unnecessary and expensive.

 

This is part of why i keep my 2012 ram and have started aquireing bits to build my own vehicle from scratch. To be honest at the rate im paying bills and debt down now that i dont have that worthless paccrap i need about 10 years to have a paid in full home, no debt and a small emergency fund. 20 and i can likely retire if im very careful with spending or get a part.time job at home say making and selling hand made furnature for example. Assumeing the world hasnt gone to crap anywho.
